New Volunteers

This year, my 12- and 13-year-old daughters were able to join Quilts the Care with their 4-H group. I was familiar with Quilts that Care as several of my closest relatives had been treated at the Lever Center, and I had seen several of their quilts gifted to chemo patients.
I was very excited for my daughters to be able to take part in such a worthwhile project. It was very impactful to hear of all of the facilities that Quilts that Care donates to, but even more so when a volunteer mentioned Connecticut Children's Medical Center.  On our way home that day, I explained to them that not only would the quilts that they worked on be given to a cancer patient, but, may be given to a child.
It is so inspiring to see the children grow in their sewing skills while creating amazing, colorful, fun quilt blocks, knowing that one day, the quilts they create will wrap around a child who might just need that little bit of warmth and love.

Hello,
I have had cancer for over 10 years starting 2025 too presently and a patient at Yale Smilow in New Haven for tongue cancer as well as breast cancer and currently there again for tongue. I have had surgery as well as radiation and chemotherapy. Currently I am having chem and immunotherapy. In all this time. I have never heard of Quillts that Care. Or nor have I seen a single patient on the floor recovery or chemo pods using a quilt.
I have never been offered one. I asked a family members one in Torrington. And one in Harold Leever if they had been offered one and they have not seen or heard about them either. And as an involved 4h volunteer I have not been told about this program or how to obtain one.
Therefore before all this work is done. What is happening to all the quilts you distribute and what happens with funds raised. I see extremely sick and dying people who would love one. How do we get one
God Bless you for doing this. It is awful they are not offered up
Thank you
Diane Tanner
